Another week of World of Warcraft! Well I’m finally getting closer to level 60. This week I decided to check out some higher level instances with my guild. I have done a lot of level 40 instances over and over again so I was excited to finally check out some new ones. Hopefully these instances will have some good loot and get me some XP so I will get closer to level 60!

The first instance I checked out was Stratholme. Most level 60s do this instance as a 5 man group, but since I’m not 60 we did it as a 10 man group. Stratholme is in the northern part of the Eastern Plague Lands. You have to run through a lot of mobs before you get to the instance so be careful. Now when you get in the instance you are inside of a town. In this town there are skeleton mobs. These mobs are mostly elites so watch out! I can see why a lot of people do this with 10 people.

Basically our strategy was to let the 2 warriors go in and tank, then we AOE the mob. It seemed to work very well. Now there are patrols so be careful. Also there are boxes that you can open. Some contain loot, but others contain rats. These rats are high level and there are 7-10 rats in every box so if you are by yourself opening them you better be careful! Moving along through the town we killed all the mobs and some bosses, nothing really good dropped.

Next we moved on into the castle. Inside of the castle is where some good loot drops. There is a good chance a righteous orb will drop off someone in the castle. These orbs sell for around 100G on the AH. So if you looking to make some money then you can run Stratholme a few times.

The next instance we did was Black Rock Depths (BRD). BRD is located in the northwestern side of the Burning Steeps. When you are getting over to the instance you are greeted by a HUGE door, pretty intimidating.

Once inside the instance it was smooth sailing. Most of the mobs are only 2-3 people so you really shouldn’t have a hard time getting through the first part of the instance. There is one really hard part of the instance where we actually wiped twice. It is called the Lyceum. There are markers that you have to mark inside of it. Mobs in here are not elites, but they are in groups of 7-10 so it’s hard to get through, especially if you agro more than 1 group.

The scene is BRD is basically a dungeon. There is a lot of lava flowing around so it gives it a really cool feel. This is the one thing I always like about WoW is that everywhere you go it gives you a different feel. We got pretty far through the instance, but guild members had to leave so our stay at BRD was short. Some cool things to mention was there is a Bar inside of BRD where everyone is neutral. There is a quest of some sort you have to do that turns then against you.

Overall this week was a lot of fun; I went from level 53 to 54. We had a lot of running some instances. Instances are a lot more fun than just questing around. Next week we will see what other fun we can get into.
