Purge’s Game Thoughts: New Oblivion Content: “Mehrunes’ Razor” Impressions (360)

Final Thoughts
Well, Bethesda was not lying when they said this was one of the largest dungeon areas in the game. I spent almost 2 hours exploring the different areas of Sundercliff Watch and Varsa Baalim; this makes Mehrunes Razor one of the longer quests in the game. I had a good time slowly sneaking around silently taking out each enemy. The dungeon also had a massive feel to it; large caverns reveal small cities with buildings. It was one of the cooler sites to be found in Oblivion. Another nice aspect to this download was that there is an actual story to the new area. Books and letters are spread throughout, and they help to flesh out details as to why all of these people are in this underground city.
One of the most enticing features of this download is the exclusive dagger, Mehrunes Razor. It features Daedric banishing on strike, disintegrate armor 15 points for 7 sec. on strike, and has 49 uses before it needs recharged. Honestly, I did not really care for this weapon considering that I have custom enchanted weapons with better effects. The Daedric banishing is a cool feature, but I’m still going to stick with my other weapons for primary use.
Overall, Mehrunes Razor is a good download because it features a great area to explore, and a cool story that goes along with the quest. The only thing that takes away from this download is the added cost. Even though the dungeon is larger than almost any other, is it really worth $3 for just one quest? I did have fun with the Mehrunes Razor download, but it does not hide the fact that Oblivion is becoming quite an expensive game to play. Considering that I purchased the collectors edition of Oblivion and each download released so far; $80+ for one game is ridiculous if you think about it. If only I could actually stop playing it though…
