PS3 Video on Demand Coming Early 2008?

Variety recently stated that Japanese PS3 owners will be able to have PS3 Video On Demand as early as early 2008. They will be able to download content for about $1.85 each. Sony says more content will be available soon as well. I think this is a great idea. VOD content would be available at a later date too.
