While HD DVD and Blu-ray have both lost supporters lately, Microsoft’s Xbox Live Marketplace seems to just keep adding new content providers. This time they’ve added MGM and ABC to the fold. Xbox 360 owners will have acess to ABC hits like Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, and Desperate Housewives in HD later this month.

New Line Goes Blu-Ray

In an article in Variety yesterday, buried amongst the Warner’s announcement was one line that was very important to the Blu-Ray cause:

Warner sister company New Line confirmed it will shift allegiance to Blu-ray only as well.

Warner’s other companies have not announced if they will make the change or not, but it seems very unlikely they will go the other way. But, time is of the essence for distributors it seems as Warner CEO Barry Meyer states:

“The window of opportunity for high-definition DVD could be missed if format confusion continues to linger.”

It’s certainly not “official” yet but many think that Sony is going to be bringing Skype to the PSP. According to Reuters, Sony is “planning to add an internet phone function” (that’d be Skype) to its PSP in order to “stir up demand,” which wouldn’t be a half bad idea considering how the DS seems to be hogging the limelight of late. Purportedly, the software could become available “as early as this month,” and while Sony spokesman Satoshi Fukuoka declined to comment on the rumblings, he did note that the company was “studying ways to add value to the PSP.”

This Halo 3 suicide is even more elaborate than the one we posted a couple days ago. Must have taken forever!

When Spike TV premiered Rainbox Six: Vegas 2 at this year’s VGA’s the trailer left the biggest thing out. Content! With that in mind, last week Ubisoft sent out a press release stating that the game is slated for release in March, predictably enough for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Developers say that it’s your last chance to rescue Vegas meaning Rainbox Six: Tokyo?

The multiplayer mode will include 13 new maps, new modes and rewards, and a new matchmaking system. Of course, it also promises the staples like improved AI, new weapons, armor, gear, and locations.

The Club (Demo) Impressions

“I’m having a hard time getting my head around The Club. Not because I haven’t enjoyed the demo, far from it: I’ve had a blast. No, I’ve had a hard time getting my head around it because The Club takes everything you think you know about shooter games, puts them in a box and seals it shut. Then shoots it up. Then sets it on fire.”
