My First Gamefly Experience Not a Good One
June 11th, 2007 by Bob Buskirk

I’m sure most of you have heard of Gamefly. It is the game rental service like Netflix where games are sent through the mail to you and after you are done playing them you can send back. And the best thing is that there are no return dates so you can rent games for months at a time. Being that I wanted to review more games and buying them would cost a fortune I signed up for Netflix. Well I got my first game in and I was very disappointed…
For my first game I decided on Super Paper Mario for the Wii because it was new and I thought it would be a fun game. It took about 4 days for me to get the game in. Gamefly games come in the same type of packaging as Netflix movies, but there is a cardboard sleeve to better protect the games. So it took Super Paper Mario out put it in my Wii and I got an error. So I figured it might have just been my Wii or something so I tried it again, error again. So I took the disc out and looked at the bottom, there were a few scratches but nothing major. I cleaned the disc off and put it back in, same thing. I tried everything I could to get it to work, I just got an error every time.
So I have sent them game back any now I have to wait at least 4 days to get another game. This time I choose Cooking Mama for the Wii. Hopefully it will actually work. I’m not saying Gamefly is bad, but my first experience with them has not been the best.

No hate to say this but Gamefly is just that bad. They have some of the worst turn around time known to man. I live thirty miles from there shipping facility here in Southern CA and it took a week for games to come back my way. And they always suspiciously got lost in the mail. Good luck!
Gamefly needs to throw in the towel and call it quits, great idea horrible execution.
My experience consisted of waiting about a week and half for games. Granted I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico (pop est. 600,000) but Netflix gets movies to me next day if it’s in the Albuquerque warehouse. I’ve got movies quicker from Alaska than my fastest turnaround using Gamefly’s warehouse in California. Blockbuster ships movies to me from Las Vegas, NV which takes 2-3 days, not bad not great.
My only hope is that Netflix buys Gamefly or starts their own video game service.
Also Gamefly’s CS is the worst I’ve dealt with EVER.
Based on the commenters above I’m not even sure we’re talking about the same company but I’ve had a Gamefly membership for nearly a year and have no complaints. Shipping times have only gotten better with the addition of rapid return and the new distribution center. It’s a bummer your first game didn’t work but I suppose it’s only logical that once in a while something will get damaged. Particularly something being shared with the public at large. I’ve had worse luck with Blockbuster as far as that goes. Anyway, don’t get discouraged and don’t let these commenters scare you off. It’s the best video game rental service out there and it pays for itself.
gamefly may or may not be the best…. but they are DEFINITELY not the cheapest…
gameznflix…. 8.99 for 1 out at a time
12.99 for 2 out at a time
16.99 for 3 out at a time
almost 50% less than gamefly…. and they have movies too, included in those prices… and they have more distribution centers than gamefly (9 vs. 2)
inventory might be were gamefly wins….. but gameznflix is a young company that is growing slowly, but surely

I got an invitation to join Game Fly.
