Mountain Dew MDX Be Nocturnal Gaming Event

The Competitions
As I said there were 4 competitions, which is a lot to get done in only 2 hours. The Smash Brothers was the most exciting and popular event. There was 2 games going on at a time. All of the guys playing were really cool and showed me how to actually play good! The players also enjoyed the 56" big screen TV’s.
The "Pod" room was packed with players both for Madden 06, and Soul Calibur II. Most of the participants were "locals" that usually come to the smaller tournaments that CyberConXion has. This made for some really good competition and fun at the same time. There were a lot of spectators in the "Pod" room just hanging out and watching competitors. Digby stopped in a few times to see how things were going.
The Unreal Tournament competition was very exciting. Players ranged from people who have never played the game before, to people who were pros. There were a few practice rounds then things got under way. There were 2 deathmatches; the top 2 from each played each other in a double elimination ladder. In the end there was only 1 winner but everyone had a lot of fun, even the people who never played the game before!
Final Thoughts
This event was really a lot of fun. It was a mix of serious and casual gamers just having a good time. $2000 in prize money was given out to the winners. That’s not bad for no entrance fee! Free MDX was given out all through the event. There was a cooler full of it keeping it cool all night! Great music was playing all night and Digby made sure you were having fun! Over 100 gamers showed up for this event and all of them walked away with something whether it was free MDX, 105.9 The X gear, or money. It was a really laid back event and it seemed like everyone had a great time!
