So let’s see just what type of event this was.

The Scene

Pittsburgh CyberConXion is located on the 2nd floor of a building in populated Squirrel Hill. Walking up the stairs the first thing we saw was a 105.9 The X banner. The X is the local radio station that helped sponsor the event. CyberConXion had some great staff working, as soon as you walked in the got everyone signed in and setup for their appropriate competition. There was no long line or confusion. Walking into the main gaming area the lights were dimmed so it really gave you the "nocturnal" feeling.

The Unreal Tournament competition was help in CyberConXion’s main gaming room. This room features 40 high-end gaming PC’s. These PC’s have GeForce 6800GT’s 1GB RAM, and all have Samsung 17 inch CRT monitor’s so they can defiantly handle Unreal Tournament.

Soul Calibur II and Madden competitions we held in CyberConXion’s "Pod" room. This room has 4 "Pods" setup. Each pod has an Xbox, Playstation 2, and GameCube. Each console is displayed on a 100" screen with a digital projector. Players are seated on nice comfortable couches, much better than regular chairs! The lights in this room were also dimmed, which looked great especially with the projectors.

The Super Smash Brothers competition was held in another room that CyberconXion rents out for big events. Each GameCube was displayed on a 56" big screen TV. This was a very popular event, it has the biggest crowd, so it was a good thing they moved it into this extra room.

Local DJ Digby was there to represent The X. The X also brought some equipment so we would have some good tunes to listen to while gaming. Digby was a really great guy we walked around to every competition and made sure everyone was having a good time. He also took time out to talk to the staff and made sure they were having fun, even though they were working!
