Product Testing

Simply put, the wireless headset is extremely comfortable. After wearing it for a few minutes, I could not even tell it was still on. Due to its small size and light weight, the headset remains comfortable even after extended periods of time. Even after I played Splinter Cell for a few hours, it did not become bothersome at any point.

The wireless headset is also much louder than the standard Microsoft headset. Even when the volume was maxed on the wired headset, it was still not loud enough. On the other hand, the wireless headset is much louder. Voice comes through loud and clear, which is a big improvement over the wired headset.

The microphone also seems to work well. My teammates in Splinter Cell were able to hear me perfectly. I also took advantage of the private chat feature to further test the headset. While in private chat, it seems that the mic picked up on background noise easily. I just think it was more audible since we were not playing a game at the time, and it’s not a major problem.

Another nice feature is that you can check the battery level of the headset at any time through the Xbox Guide. A headset icon is placed next to the controller icon, and each has their own battery indicator. Also, the headset will begin to beep when the charge level gets too low.

Final Thoughts

Overall, Microsoft produced a great product. The wireless headset is very stylish and well built. It also maintains a high comfort level even after extended gaming sessions. The audio quality is a huge improvement over the standard wired controller too. The only minor problem I have with the wireless headset is that when you get out of range of the console, the headset disconnects. But when you get back into range, you have to manually synch the headset again. Other than this minor gripe, I would recommend the wireless headset to those that put in a descent amount of time on live.

Pros:
- Stylish and comfortable
- Great sound levels
- Can be used without a controller connected
- Two different ear loops
- It’s wireless!

Cons:
- MSRP of $59.99
- Takes up to 4 hours to charge
