Holiday 2006 - Games to get for the Wii
December 12th, 2006 by Bob Buskirk

This holiday season Nintendo launched their new video game system, the Wii. Unlike the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 the Wii did not focus on graphics, rather enjoyment and gameplay. The Wii features a very intuitive controller in which you actually control the game with your hand movement rather than just pressing buttons. I was very skeptical at first, especially after seeing the graphics and not being impressed, but after playing the Wii I was instantly hooked. The gameplay is just so much fun because you actually feel like your playing, where on other systems you are the character playing. So now it is the holiday season and you just purchased your Wii. We have a list of 5 games worth checking out.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is the Wii’s flagship title (besides Wii Sports). I’m sure at one time in your life you have played a Zelda game, so you know what to expect. You set out on an adventure as Zelda’s main character Link. The game looks really great and it is hard to believe this is technically a Gamecube game. The control system is very easy to get used to and shows you that you can really play an adventure game on the Wii. Out of all the titles out right now for the Wii this has to be the most popular.
Excite Truck
Excite Truck is a spiritual successor of sorts to the classic NES motorcycle racing game, Excitebike. Of course this time you are playing as a truck not a bike. The game gives you a real sense of speed and allows you to use the Wii remote is a very unique way. You hold the Wii remote sideways with the 1 and 2 buttons near your right thumb. The 1 and 2 buttons act as your gas and break and the D pad is used as a turbo boost. You control the direction you are going by tilting the controller left and right. These controls are easy to use and once you get the hang of it the game is a lot of fun!
