The Nintendo Wii was made to bring people together to have fun, not just gamers, everyone. Cooking Mama is the perfect game for a system like this because everyone has cooked something in their lifetime. In Cooking Mama you not only cook the food you prepare everything too. So that includes cutting vegetables, cracking eggs, and even skinning carrots! Read on and see if this is the perfect family game for you!

Cooking Mama originally came out on the Nintendo DS, but I never got a chance to play it so I’m a Cooking Mama noobie. It seems simple enough right, prepare a meal. When you first start the game you have 10 meals in your cookbook. They range from deserts like custard to dinners like beef in wine sauce. There are even snacks like popcorn. To unlock more recipes you have to complete current recipes.

Once you choose a meal that you want to cook you are brought to a screen that has all the steps along the way and a small description of the current step you are on. There are a lot of fun different cooking actions. Some of the ones that I have been able to master are cracking eggs, chopping up food, and pouring. But some are still tricky like coating the pan in butter and peeling carrots.

One thing that is a little irritating in the game is that sometime the actions will not perform as you would like them to. Say for example while cooking the popcorn you have to moving the Wii remote back and forth. It may work perfectly, but sometimes it will not and you end up burning the popcorn. Also while stirring it does not always recognize the Wii remote so you end up spilling or not stirring fast enough. This gets very frustrating when you are doing a difficult meal or playing against someone.
