Attack on Pearl Harbor (PC) Review
September 8th, 2007 by Colin Dean
Graphics
Attack on Pearl Harbor is no Bioshock, but it definitely has quality graphics. The game is meant to be a little comic-y: the titles and dialog are in a paneled form with a stereotypical comic font. I played the game a 1680×1050 on a 7800+ GTX with all options maxed and got about 30 fps.
The explosions are neat, but not blooming like many games today.
The scale seems a bit off, too. The planes are similarly scaled, but the ships look lackluster and the ground objects look like toys.
Audio
I enjoy the soundtrack to the game. It’s ambient music that has a Band of Brothers/Saving Private Ryan feel to it. I call it "mission music" because it makes me feel like I’m on a mission.
There’s a distinct click when the plane’s secondary fire reloads. It’s very audible and sticks out enough to be heard among the constant rat-tat-tat of machine guns.
Story
Players looking for a game with an immerse WWII story line should probably skip Attack on Pearl Harbor. The game focuses more on the action of the battle than the story behind or the actual victor of each.
