The new hardware is suppose to sell for only $99, which is a fair price cut from the current PS2 of $129. According to the source, the power supply is built into the system case, which is an improvement of the current PS2 slim. While the PS3 isn’t doing so well in the console wars the PS2 has always sold great, selling more than 120 million systems last year alone. Sony’s video game business model has long relied upon older consoles living well into their successor’s lifetimes, and as such the rumor of an upcoming PS2 price drop seems highly reasonable.
